Philly Chit Chat: Bellevue Celebrated it's 21st Birthday

The Sporting Club at the Bellevue celebrating it's 21st Birthday

The Sporting Club at the Bellevue celebrating it's 21st Birthday on January 21, 2010. The party was a resounding success with well dressed peeps, mostly members of the Club and the well healed of Philadelphia rubbing elbow to elbow, especially in the hallway where the food lay in wait. There were several bars in the narrow hallway, and a strategically placed one in center court on the basket ball court. It was my understanding that this was the first time they held a party in this room, I felt guilty walking on the floor and suggested to a few people that maybe we should remove our shoes. They assured me the floor would be fine.

The Sporting Club is part of The Bellevue complex which includes the Park Hyatt Philadelphia, restaurants XIX and The Palm, and exclusive shops such as Tiffany & Co.,Nicole Miller, Williams-Sonoma, Origins and Teuscher Chocolates as well as offices for the Philadelphia Chamber of Commerce, Tierney Company and Pennsylvania Realty Investment Trust. It’s a great place to work out, dine, shop and stay right in the heart of Philadelphia’s downtown.

Philadelphia Style Magazine Publisher and now he's adding Washington DC's Capitol to his resume, John Colabelli. I hear he will moving his operations down there and running both magazines from that office, but he's not disappearing for good as he will be here two or three times a week; with Sabrina Tamburino Thorne who's jetting down to Jamaica this weekend for a destination wedding.

This is the Ritz of the Philadelphia gyms. Basketball court, pool, squash, a boxing area, ballet room, several group fitness rooms, a yoga studio, an indoor track, a large workout floor with state-of-the-art machines, a fleet of treadmills, each with their own television.

Spotlight On Bradley Cooper

Bradley Cooper has been acting for an entire decade but he's just starting to get his well-deserved fame. It seems you can't open a tabloid without coming across his name and who he is allegedly linked to. Although he claims to be just friends with Jennifer Aniston, pictures of their "date" were plastered all over the magazine covers and they are still a hot topic in celebrity gossip. Did he blow her over, is she just not that into him, do we really care? Born in Philadelphia, Bradley was Georgetown educated before studying at the Actors Studio Drama School at New School University in New York City. While working on a few small theater projects, he landed roles on Sex And The City, The Beat and Treks in a Wild World. He then appeared as Ben in the hilarious, summer camp flick Wet Hot American Summer. Bradley has appeared in various television shows such as Law and Order, Alias, Nip/Tuck and Kitchen Confidential. His good looks and likeability have helped launch his movie career as he went to star in The Wedding Crashers, Failure to Launch, Yes Man, and He's Just Not That Into You. What seemed to put Bradley on the map as well as on the cover of all the tabloids was this summer's box office hit, The Hangover. Bradley played Phil Wenneck who along with his fellow groomsmen took the groom-to-be on a wild bachelor party adventure in Las Vegas. One of the funniest movies of the year, Bradley gained major recognition for this role, surprisingly. Plans for The Hangover 2 are already underway. The fame hasn't greatly affected Bradley as he stays humbled. In a recent interview with Philadelphia Style magazine, Bradley admitted that he can go unrecognizable in his hometown and is still working his way up the actor food chain. It just shows you that even the most famous actors have to face rejection. Bradley told the Advocate Magazine, "I actually auditioned to play James Franco's role in Milk -- I really wanted that -- but oh, my God, Franco just killed it." Although he was reportedly beat out by Ryan Reynolds to play the Green Lantern, Bradley has been confirmed to play Templeton "Face" Peck in the forthcoming The A-Team film.

He doesn't seem to have any problem getting rejected in the dating field. After his 4 month marriage to actress Jennifer Esposito, Bradley has been linked to Jennifer Aniston, Renee Zellweger, Lake Bell and Cameron Diaz and has been called a "player" by a few tabloids. Currently filming Valentine's Day in Los Angeles with Julia Roberts, Bradley's next film, All About Steve with Sandra Bullock hits theaters September 4th.

Philly Chit Chat: Philadelphia Style 2009 Hot List Party!

July 17, 2009

Oh what a night. For me covering the Philly Style Magazine "Hot List" party is an amazing experience because at last years event I barely knew anyone except for Sgt. Ray (Single and still looking girls, I know you're curious some of you do searches) and Brett Rosenblum (off to some exotic place). There were no Arthur Kade's, or Sabrina Tamburino's in my life at that time, certainly no Renee Freeman who just exudes a sweetness and kindness every time I see her and many of you who are always so kind, especially with your prayers for my sister and of the NBC10/Fusion "Be a 10 in 10 Weeks" Biggest Loser Challenge.

Philadelphia Style Magazine's Hot List Party-

PHILADELPHIA STYLE MAGAZINE'S 2009 HOT LIST PARTY kicked off with a bang at The Crystal Tea Room in the old Wanamaker Building on Thursday night. Philadelphia Style Magazine has delivered more than ten years of the latest news in the worlds of fashion, travel, philanthropy, entertainment, home décor, architecture, and real estate to the sophisticated readers in the metropolitan Philadelphia area. The magazine's biggest supporters came out to show their thanks to Philly Style for helping put Philly on the map.

Once you walked in through the swinging doors of the historic building you couldn’t stop to notice all of the beautiful women dressed to the nines. As you approached the Crystal Tea Room, there were some employees from Philly Style to greet you at the entrance, and a large Philly Style banner and red carpet with all of the who’s who in Philadelphia getting snapped up by photographers and paparazzi.

Philadelphia’s VIP’s celebrated with a night of food, live music by CTO who played some great Michael Jackson hits, cocktails and lots of dancing and fun. Some of the big wigs included Monica Malpass, anchor at Channel 6 WPVI, Marshall Harris, anchor at Comcast Sportsnet, John Bolaris, meteorologist at FOX 29 News as well as many other TV media personalities. One of the crowd favorites was Sharon Pinkenson, Executive Director of the Greater Philadelphia Film Office.

Many people were interested to find out from her where Owen Wilson, Reese Witherspoon, and Jack Nicholson are shooting in Philly. Rumor has it that Jack Nicholson has been spending a lot of quality time around Rittenhouse Square. A source says he’s been frequenting Stephen Starr’s Parc Rittenhouse while in town.

The party had the best restaurants in Philly like Table 31, and 10 Arts to name a couple showcasing their finest foods and mixed drinks. The Cherry-tini’s from 10 Arts were going down fast amongst the party goers. There was an exclusive casino set up in the room by Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa. All proceeds from that benefited the Borgata Heart & Soul Foundation. There was a lot more dancing at the after party at Zee Bar. The owners of Dusk, a hot new club at Caesar’s Atlantic City had their own private table at Zee.

All in all, the Philadelphia Style party proved after 10 years that Philly is one hot fashionable city of celebrities and local Philadelphians who love this city like they love their sports teams.

With Philadelphia Fashion Week just around the corner in October, Philly’s Style’s party next year may just get bigger. And after this blowout event—something better is even harder to imagine☺
